On behalf of MADD Canada, NRG Research Group is conducting a research study with selected high school students from across Canada. The purpose of this research is to gather student’s opinions about MADD Canada’s “Wasted” assembly presentation, and determine how effective it is in influencing high school students’ attitudes and behaviours regarding the use of alcohol/drugs and driving practices.
At the conclusion of the MADD Canada “Wasted” assembly presentation, students from the selected schools will be invited to participate in the study. Students from these schools who attend the assembly will be provided the address of a secure website where the survey is hosted and will be asked to complete the survey within 5 days of seeing the show. A follow-up online survey will be conducted with these same students to assess how the important messages contained in MADD Canada’s “Wasted” assembly presentation are remaining with students. The second survey will be conducted approximately 3 months from the assembly date. Students will be asked to provide an email address at which they can be contacted 3 months later to complete the second follow-up survey.
Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and all information provided by students will be kept completely confidential. We are looking for honest answers from the students, and the information they provide will not be shared with anyone. The information collected will be used strictly for research purposes only.
As an incentive for students to participate in this research study (by completing both surveys), students will be entered into a draw to win one of the following prizes at the conclusion of the study (July 15, 2010): One (1) cash prize of $1,000 (CDN), One (1) Nintendo Wii ®, or one (1) of four iPod Nano® (8GB).
