In 1981 Brian founded Western Opinion Research, while teaching at the University of Manitoba’s business school. A believer in the view that success and growth are interdependent, in 2005 he established NRG National Research Group with the merger of Western Opinion Research and Nordic Research Group (the Vancouver successor firm to Campbell, Goodell, Trainor), creating a company with more than 50 years of market and public affairs research leadership and expertise.

Brian brings more than 45 years of experience in public affairs, opinion and market assessment to the research projects he works on directly, and to being a key member of the team that drives NRG’s corporate direction. He encourages the search for new solutions that will keep NRG forward looking and evolving. Brian thrives on exploring the potential in new markets and new products, while making sure NRG is constantly building new skills and talent and the organization structure required to take advantage of this potential.

Brian holds a PhD in Business Policy from the Ivey School at the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Agricultural Economics degree from the University of Manitoba. Although it is  hard to find Brian away from the office, when not working he has been honing his sailing and singing skills, enjoys reading, and is always impressed by and supportive of the growth and development of his four granddaughters.
