Connecting Sport and Canadians

Sport has the potential to enrich the lives of Canadians, bring citizens and communities together, and instill fundamental values and morals in our youth. NRG Research Group has examined this subject in fine detail in our syndicated study: Connecting Sport and Canadians.

Our study takes a NATIONAL perspective on:

  • key issues facing sport today;
  • the social, cultural, and economic benefits of sport;
  • influences on participation in sport, and barriers to participation;
  • the role of sport in individual and community development;
  • the extent to which sport positively contributes to youth development, and strengthens communities;
  • public perceptions of community and elite-level sport.

The study involved interviews with both Canadian adults (18+) and youth (10 to 17), and provides an opportunity to truly understand the role sport plays in developing Canadian families and communities.

A total of 2,000 telephone interviews were administered with adult Canadians (18+) with an additional 1,000 shorter surveys conducted with young Canadians aged 10 to 17. Interviews were administered in both official languages.
