Position Summary

At NRG Research Group, the role of a Research Assistant is to support all aspects of research project management and work with their colleagues in delivering the highest quality customized research to our clients.

Led by a more senior NRG team member, Research Assistants work within an NRG Team to support the execution of quantitative and/or qualitative research for clients across a number of industry sectors. They assist in the areas including sampling, survey design, client management, project management, and report preparation and presentation.

Primary Responsibilities Include

Project management: The Research Assistant assists their NRG Team with ensuring that projects are completed on time and on budget. through

  • Project setup
  • Questionnaire run-throughs and testing
  • Proof reading documents
  • Helping launch field briefings, ensuring all team members have information required
  • Coordinating projects with NRG departments (i.e. Data Processing, Sample and Field)
  • Checking first night frequencies
  • Proactively communicating project status with their NRG Team

Report and proposal preparation: The Research Assistant creates meaningful representations of data accurately and efficiently, including preparing and/or checking charts and proofreading reports.  As well, a Research Assistant provides written commentary for reports and research proposals.

Corporate culture: Contributes to developing, promoting, and maintaining a positive culture within NRG; one that aims for extraordinary quality and ensures ethical behaviour at all times.

Ideal Candidate Has The Following Skills And Experience

Research Assistants join NRG with a basic understanding of survey research and the market research process. Previous research experience and/or experience with statistical software such as SPSS or R is a strong asset, but not necessary.  Research Assistants also possess strong technical writing skills and are proficient with Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).

This professional is highly motivated to work in marketing and public affairs research.

Important skills in this position include organization, time management, ability to learn quickly, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.  After initial training, this employee will manage their own work within their larger NRG Team.

An undergraduate degree in social sciences, commerce, or a related field is required. Alternatively, those with equivalent level of professional experience in market research are also considered
