David Converse, Vice President, Operations
David's career in market research began in 1988 at one of NRG’s predecessor companies, Western Opinion Research (WOR), where he worked as an interviewer and supervisor, and played a key role in the growth and development of WOR’s field operations. Of particular note was the role he played supervising Field operations for political clients during election campaigns. While at WOR David also worked on and managed numerous lottery, agricultural and media studies.
In 1995 David joined the Angus Reid Group and during his eleven years with the firm and its successor company he held increasingly important operational roles, concluding with his tenure as Vice President of CATI (Computer Aided Telephone Interviewing). In sequence his roles included: national Field scheduling, developing and implementing quality control and project management standards for Field operations, developing logistical processes to create efficiencies for operations and researchers, and managing a world-scale Field center.
In this last role, which he occupied for six years, David oversaw thousands of market research studies involving B2B, customer satisfaction, agriculture, medicine, advertising, public opinion, energy, lottery and gaming, telecommunications and other areas.
As a project manager in the operations area, David has launched hundreds of studies over the years including small ‘C Sat’ projects with specialized needs, Business to Business ‘B2B’ studies with hard target respondents, large quantitative public opinion studies, and complicated mixed methodology telephone/ Internet assignments.
In his new role at NRG David will oversee the company’s expanding data processing (DP), IT and Field operations. His extensive experience renders him uniquely qualified to undertake this role and to assist NRG with its rapid growth in Canada and internationally.
In addition to his research qualifications, David studied urban planning and economics at the University of Winnipeg.
